With the April 2012 collection of gently shoes in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec Soles4Souls Canada has grown from the seed of an idea in 2010, to collecting 85, 000 pairs of shoes nationally.

In 2012, 50,000 pairs of gently worn shoes were collected in BC and Alberta, 25,000 in Ottawa and 10,000 in Montreal.

Soles4Souls Canada collected more shoes, at more locations as Canadians cleaned out there closets and gave their gently worn shoes to help the needy. In a short 3 years Soles4Souls has collected over 200,000 pairs of gently worn shoes in Canada.

In 2012 Soles4Souls Canada had the extensive national exposure. We had a letter of support from Mrs Laureen Harper who personally dropped off shoes in Ottawa and Vancouver.

The mayors of Ottawa  Jim Watson and Kelowna Walter Gray assisted Soles4Souls by being featured in videos for their respective communities. The Premier of BC Christy Clark also supported the Cause with a letter of support.

Directors Jim Belshaw and Donald Robichaud want to thank all the great Canadians who took the time to clean out their closet’s and carried, drove or shipped shoes to the official drop off locations.

“We were very touched by individuals like 7 year old Lauren Chin of Milton Ontario who decide to collect shoes at her birthday party and not receive gifts says Donald Robichaud”

Lauren had over 100 people invited to her birthday party and collect over 500 pairs of shoes.

There was also Bonnie St. John of Almonte Ontario who collected over 1000 pairs of shoes on her own storing them in her garage until we could get them transferred to a sort location.

Many Schools across the country collected shoes with Kelowna’s Chute Lake School collecting over 1,000 pairs of shoes. The Osgoode Youth Association collected over 1500 pairs of shoes at their 2012 Googe Run.

There were so many Canadians who collected individually that the Directors of Soles4Souls Canada Jim Belshaw and Donald Robichaud want to thank all the great Canadians who took the time to clean out their closet’s, carry the shoes or shipped shoes to the official drop off locations across Canada.
